A painter in both watercolour and oil, I love the feel and texture of paper. While I do larger works in oil on canvas, I enjoy the freedom and speed of painting alla prima in oil on paper. The archival integrity of these works is retained by sealing the rag paper with gesso and acrylic before beginning the work in oil.
Children represent hope, a vast potential future, and joy that I find particularly vivid in their play in summer settings. My three beautiful daughters are nearly grown, but I still thrill at the animation of a toddler discovering something, or a baby smiling at a stranger. I include many different children in my pieces, and feel uplifted being able to share their moments in sunshine.
